Mobile game developer Playrix is pulling out of Russia and Belarus

Ireland-based mobile game maker is ending its operations in these two countries in order to maintain its operations.

Playrix, one of the largest mobile gaming companies in the world, is pulling out of Russia and Belarus. The mobile game maker released a press announcement and said it will end working in these two countries “due to the continued aggression against Ukraine and in order to maintain its operations”.

Playrix was quite vocal about the war since its beginning and almost immediately suspended its commercial activities in Russia and Belarus. The company opened new offices across Europe to relocate its employees, but it was still active in the mentioned countries till now.

The free-to-play mobile game developer will close all offices that still operate in Russia and Belarus, and shut down all its operations. It also offers relocation to remaining staff from these two countries to other offices.

The gaming firm says it has over 1,500 employees in Ukraine and it’s committed to keeping its operations live in the country.

Playrix isn’t the first gaming company to pull out of Russia amidst the war. To name a few, The Games Fund settled in Miami this summer, Azur Games sold all its shares in Russian and Belarussian studios, and Wargaming opened studios in Warsaw and Belgrade after ceasing operations in Russia.

Playrix houses thousands of employees spread across more than 30 countries. The studio sees more than 100 million players worldwide on a monthly basis. Playrix is behind successful mobile titles such as Gardenscapes, Homescapes, Fishdom, and Township.
