Legendary rap artist and avid gamer Snoop Dogg and his son, Cordell Broadus, are launching Death Row Games to support minority creators and artists. According to Afrotech’s news, the company will help to design, develop, and publish content within the Fortnite ecosystem.
Snoop Dogg has been very active in the gaming space in the last ten years. He has been with the Call of Duty franchise since 2014 and recently came back as an operator for the new season of Warzone.
“We’ve been creating games, and none of them has been published anything on a huge scale, but on a very amateur level,” Broadus told Afrotech in an interview. “We’ve been around games for the last five to six years. And Snoop, he’s done mobile games. A few of them in the past five to six years in apps and stuff like that. So we’ve always had the mindset of building it on our own.”
Death Row Games’ name may sound familiar to those who are fans of the early 90s West Coast hip-hop scene. Death Row Records was the home of many artists, including Snoop Dogg, 2Pac, and Dr. Dre. The studio’s name is a clear homage to the legendary record label that shook the scene with young hip-hop artists. The father and son duo might take that as an inspiration for the new generation of content creators.
