The video game giant and software maker Unity and monetization and distribution software company ironSource have announced the completion of their merger agreement. As part of the partnership, Unity will use ironSource’s expertise, tools, and talent to help developers build and publish games easily.

The companies shared a blog post on their official websites and stated that this combination “will give mobile game developers the tools they need at each stage of their development journey: from building, publishing, and operating mobile games to monetizing them, if they choose to, and growing their player base across multiple channels.”
Unity also mentioned that as both companies are focused heavily on games, the goal will be to support developers with the proper tools and resources to ease their game building and publishing processes. The company shared that although mobile is an essential platform, as 70% of mobile games use Unity, it will continue to work on other platforms, including PC, console, and XR.
SVP & GM of Publishing at ironSource, Nadav Ashkenazy, has shared these words on LinkedIn about the completion of the merger:
“Super exciting day for us and our Supersonic partners! ironSource has completed the merger with Unity. Now we’ll be able to support you across the entire game development cycle – from creation to the top charts.”
Unity had accepted ironSource’s offer over Applovin’s back in July. While Applovin presented a more aggressive stance by demanding to hold 51% of the outstanding voting rights, ironSource shareholders will own 26.5% of the merged company.
