Sweden-based backend platform LootLocker has raised $2.5 million in a new funding round aimed at accelerating its publishing solutions for game developers. Alongside the investment, the company announced that Jonathan Lander, former Senior Vice President of Global Product & Publisher Operations at Bethesda, has joined its board of directors, as reported by GamesBeat.
Founded in 2019 by Alexander Bergendahl (CEO) and Andreas Wilhelmsson (CTO), LootLocker provides backend infrastructure that allows studios to integrate player accounts, leaderboards, cloud saves, and progression systems without the need for complex server management. The platform is designed to help small-to-mid-sized teams launch live games faster and scale more easily.
LootLocker reports that its technology currently powers more than 10,000 live games worldwide, ranging from indie titles to mid-scale productions. The company’s mission is to “democratize live-game technology” by offering flexible tools compatible with all major engines and platforms.
While the investors were not disclosed, the round follows LootLocker’s previous $2.1 million seed funding in 2022, which was led by IA Ventures, with participation from Acequia Capital and Ludus Ventures.
“At Bethesda, I saw firsthand how important it is for publishers to have the tools and data to truly understand their players and guide them across a portfolio.
LootLocker is building the kind of functionality I wish we’d had available years ago, one that connects games together, strengthens the relationship between publisher and player, and creates opportunities for cross-promotion.”
