YouTube has launched a closed beta of the YouTube Playables Builder, a prototype web app built with Gemini 3 that lets users create small games using short text, video, or image prompts.
The move builds on YouTube’s broader push into lightweight, instant-play games. YouTube first began rolling out Playables more widely in 2024 as a library of free titles playable directly inside the YouTube app and on desktop, positioning games as another “in-feed” experience alongside video.
For now, availability remains staged. YouTube’s Help Center describes Playables as an experimental feature that’s only available to select users in eligible countries/regions, with @sambucha, @AyChristene, @goharsguide, and @Mogswamp to start making games.

On the development side, YouTube has also been formalizing the underlying tech stack. Google’s developer documentation frames the YouTube Playables SDK as a web SDK for connecting web games with the YouTube environment, and notes that Playables support standard web technologies and a range of engines that export to the web.
