Amazon Studios has signed with Dj2 Entertainment.

Aiming to turn video games into movies and TV shows in the near future, Amazon has announced that it has signed a “first look” pact with dj2 Entertainment, which specializes in this field.

Nowadays, we encounter television adaptations of video games quite often, and the release of Uncharted movies based on Sony’s Uncharted game series is the closest example of this. While movies were tried to be gamified, today, games are being made into movies with an evolving strategy.

Dj2 Entertainment CEO Dmitri M. Johnson made a statement on this subject;

“The dj2 team has long believed that video games would one day serve as incredible source material for stories told in television and film, and that it was only the lack of love and respect for the artform which previously held successful adaptations back. Moreover, it is truly an honor to have Prime Video as our platform partner. A partner who truly supports us, as well as our grand ambitions, for telling the best international gaming stories with no limitations in how high we may collectively aim.”

dj2 Entertainment will create and produce Prime Video-only content in over 240 countries and territories worldwide.

Nick Pepper, Head of Studio Creative Content at Amazon Studios, continued:

“I cannot express enough just how excited we are to be working with the powerhouse team at dj2 Entertainment. Their expertise and skill in the gaming-to-screen market is unparalleled. The possibilities are endless for what we can create together for our global audiences.”

The company’s recent projects include the blockbuster Sonic The Hedgehog, which will see a sequel in April 2022, and Tomb Raider: The Animated Series, which is set for two seasons for Netflix.
