CD Projekt is reportedly hungry for more cross-media content after Cyberpunk: Edgerunners’ overwhelming success. The company had previously stated that the Netflix anime has brought in more sales and popularity for its already world-famous title Cyberpunk 2077.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners made it into the top 10 charts of 19 different countries on Netflix in its opening week. The anime amassed an average of 8.4 stars on IMDb out of 44,000 votes, as fans are eager to find out whether the popular anime will receive a second season.

Michał Nowakowski, CD Projekt’s SVP of Business Development, made these comments about the company’s plans for transmedia and a possible second season for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners:

“We are not confirming any specific plans [for a] second season of Edgerunners or anything super specifically. We have an appetite to do more in transmedia, so in linear visual animation or live action, and those plans have not changed, so when we are ready, you may expect to see more announcements in that regard coming from us”.

In an interview with Famitsu, Satoru Honma, CD Projekt Red’s Japan Country Manager, talked about Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and the possible future of the show:

“I personally would like to continue to work with Japanese studios to produce more anime in the future, partly because we have received very good feedback. However, just to be clear, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was planned as a standalone work, so there’s no such thing as actually working on Season 2 in the background. Even if we could make more anime in the future, I don’t know if it would be Season 2 or something completely different.”

In recent months, there has been tremendous traffic among CDPR. The company announced five new Witcher games, a new Cyberpunk game, and a new IP in late September. In early October, the Polish gaming giant shared its aims to expand on mobile game space. Lastly, a month ago, the company announced The Witcher Remake, which Fool’s Theory will develop on the Unreal Engine 5.
