CD Projekt Red revealed its new project, previously known as ‘Canis Majoris’ to be The Witcher Remake. CDPR will provide full creative supervision while Fool’s Theory develops the game in Unreal Engine 5. The remake is still in the very early stages of development, and as such, there is no release date or further information about the project.

Fool’s Theory is a Polish studio formed by ex-Witcher veterans, meaning they’re quite familiar with the source material. They know how much gamers are looking forward to this game, said CD Projekt Red Head of Studio Adam Badowski.
Badowski also said,
“The Witcher is where it all started for us, for CD PROJEKT RED. It was the first game we made, ever, and it was a big moment for us then. Going back to this place and remaking the game for the next generation of gamers to experience it feels just as big, if not bigger.
“Collaborating with Fool’s Theory on the project is just as exciting, as some of the people there have been previously involved in The Witcher games. They know the source material well, they know how much gamers have been looking forward to seeing the remake happen, and they know how to make incredible and ambitious games. And although it will take some time before we’re ready to share more about and from the game, I know it’ll be worth the wait.”
Fool’s Theory has helped Outriders developer People Can Fly by providing level design, meshing, and programming support. The studio is also helping Baldur’s Gate 3 developer Larian Studios by providing gameplay and tools programming support. It has also worked on Seven and has another project named ‘Codename Vitriol’.
CD Projekt Red had previously announced five new Witcher games, a Cyberpunk game, and a whole new IP. ‘Polaris’ is the codename of the first game of a new trilogy set in the Witcher universe, and is currently in development. ‘Sirius’ will be developed by The Molasses Flood, it will have a single-player campaign while also offering multiplayer gameplay. ‘Orion’ and ‘Hadar’ are respectively the Cyberpunk game, and a brand new IP.
These were not the only announcements from CDPR, however, as the gaming giant’s Joint-CEO Marcin Iwinski also recently announced that he was stepping down from his role by the end of this year after almost 30 years at the company. Iwinski said he’ll submit his candidacy for Chairman of the Supervisory Board.
