Finnish/Chinese mobile game publisher and service provider MyGamez has successfully raised €1.5 million ($1.6 million) in a funding round featuring notable industry figures. Supercell co-founder Mikko Kodisoja, Small Giant Games co-founder Timo Soininen, Reworks co-founder Ilkka Teppo, and former Riot China head of operations Daniel Wang are among the backers.
Established initially to open the Chinese games market to Western developers, MyGamez shifted its focus to co-publishing services due to regulatory changes in China’s game industry. The funding round signals support for MyGamez’s new approach, with investors acknowledging the company’s role in navigating China’s complex gaming landscape.
MyGamez, operating in two major mobile gaming regions, is a critical player in the Finnish/Chinese game industry. The company’s co-publishing services cater primarily to China’s games market, offering a transparent and hassle-free platform for global publishers.
Timo Soininen, who spearheaded the deal between Small Giant Games and MyGamez before leaving after a Zynga acquisition, expressed confidence in MyGamez’s unique platform. “MyGamez has developed a completely new, fully transparent, and hassle-free way for leading global publishers to access the world’s largest gaming market,” said Soininen.
With Soininen’s investment, he joins MyGamez’s board, adding his expertise to the company’s strategic direction. MyGamez co-founder and CEO Mikael Leinonen expressed gratitude for the support, stating, “After several rocky years, the China game industry regulatory environment has stabilized, and the market is growing again.”
MyGamez boasts a client roster that includes Playrix, Small Giant Games, Gram Games, Fingersoft, and Nexters. The company anticipates positive growth prospects with upcoming launches, such as “Empires & Puzzles.” The funding round solidifies MyGamez’s position as a valuable platform for global players seeking growth opportunities in China’s gaming market.
