Women in Games, the non-profit organization that supports women in our beloved industry has a new ambassador. As you knew from the headline, it’s the hyper-casual publisher Kwalee. The leading UK mobile game publisher is the latest Corporate Ambassador for the organization. Furthermore, Kwalee is the first publisher of hyper-casual mobile games that becomes an ambassador of Women in Games.
Kwalee hopes to make things better
Jennifer Koch, Talent Acquisition Executive at Kwalee has been named a Women in Games Individual Ambassador in February 2020. Besides the announcement, the company co-ordinated new research about how fun or enjoyable women view a job in gaming vs. men. The survey was based on 2000 UK and US consumers. Results are that 58 percent of women think getting a job in gaming would be fun/enjoyable vs. 62% of men. However, the research found that 38 percent of women feel that getting into that entering the gaming industry is difficult.
David Darling, CEO of Kwalee said the following about the announcement in a press release sent to Mobidictum:
A more diverse industry is something I’ve always been passionate about and am happy to see it at Kwalee and even within my family, with my daughter Jessie being a games designer here at Kwalee! In hypercasual, the majority of our players are female, so how could we confidently create games for a diverse audience if we weren’t diverse ourselves? I feel this stands for any genre too, and it’s why organisations like Women in Games are so essential. We need more women in games, as it’s the only way the end product will get better. We’re really excited by the work we can do together in this partnership and hope to contribute to a more diverse future for gaming.

Marie-Claire, CEO of Women in Games commented the following:
We are delighted to welcome Kwalee as Women in Games Corporate Ambassadors. In 2019 the hypercasual genre accounted for 78% of all mobile gaming downloads with a core female player base. It’s an area with a huge amount of influence in the games industry and Kwalee are market-leaders in this space. In unprecedented and uncertain times, our Corporate Ambassadors, like Kwalee are crucial in supporting our work, to educate more girls on the fantastic careers available in the sector. And help more women break into the industry and thrive within it, with gaming thankfully being one of the most secure places to currently work within.
Congratulations from all of at Mobidictum for Kwalee, we are also eagerly waiting for the better future!
