COVID-19 (coronavirus) affected Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2020. The team behind it decided to go digitally because of the outbreak. In last night’s stream, the organizers announced The Game Developers Choice Awards winners. The most important one for most of the readers is the Game of the Year award. Unsurprisingly (or surprisingly?), Untitled Goose Game stole it from AAA titles like Control, Death Stranding, SekiroL Shadows Die Twice, and Outer Wilds.

Also, the Ambassador Award went to Kate Edwards while Roberta Williams got the Pioneer Award. Furthermore, thatgamecompany’s Sky: Children of the Light won the Audience Award. That’s it for the Game Developers Choice Awards 2020, however, there’s more. in The Independent Games Festival Awards, Seumas McNally’s A Short Hike won the grand prize ($10,000). Another winner is Knights and Bikes who won $2,000 for its visual art. Excellence in Audio winner was Mutazion who also got $2,000 with other games like Patrick’s Parabox, Heaven’s Vault, The Space Between, and BORE DOME. Finally, A Short Hike also won the Audience Award.
