Esports scene is growing with the games industry, it’s now one of the most popular parts of our beloved industry. According to GoldenCasinoNews, the top three highest-earning esports countries globally reached $338.9 million in total prize money so far. As the headlines read, United States is the leading esports country in the world followed by China in second. To close the top three, South Korea took third place on the list.
Esports player earned $40.6 million in the U.S.
Based on the report, professional players from the United States earned $40.6 million in prize money, that’s in 2019 only. Furthermore, most successful players are Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf, Saahil “UNiVeRsE”, and Peter “ppd” Dager. They won $3.06 million, $3.05 million and $3.02 million in prize money, respectively. Also, statistics show that the competitive scene drew more than 16,000 US players so far. For comparison, that’s almost four times higher than other countries in the world.
China earned $109.1 in total prize money which made the country comes in second place. In 2019, 1089 professional Chinese esports players earned a total of $19.6 million in prize money. Most popular Chinese esports players are Lu “Somnus M” Yao and Xu “fy” Linsen with $2.94 million and $2.85 million in total prize money. South Korea is sitting at third place in the highest-earning esports countries with $90.1 million in prize money. According to the same report, last year, 1083 players were “actively competing” and won $16.91 million in prize money.
What about Europe?
Sweden is the highest-earning esports country in Europe with $37.1 million in total prize money. Denmark comes in fifth place while France is in the sixth. Denmark players won a total of $35.2 million in competing in tournaments. Johan “N0tail” Sundstein is from the country and he is the highest-earning esports player with $6.9 million so far. To complete the list, Canada comes after France and it’s followed by Russian Federation, Germany, and Finland.
