Krafton, Publisher of PUBG: Battlegrounds, has announced a licensing partnership with Ironmace to develop a mobile adaptation of Dark and Darker. There is no specific release date given for the mobile version of the popular first-person dungeon crawler since the partnership between Krafton and Ironmace has just been announced.
“We’ve been watching Dark and Darker’s potential and distinct creativity with great interest,” said Rafael Lim, Krafton’s senior head of publishing.
“From the genre to the setting of the overall IP, Dark and Darker tapped into something compelling with its existing PC release. Here at Krafton, we can’t wait to share these exciting dungeon runs with a whole new community of fans on mobile.“
Krafton seems like a good fit for this project since it worked on a number of mobile games, most notably PUBG Mobile. Yet, this partnership is a bit of a surprise because of Ironmace’s complicated legal situation.
Ironmace has been in a dispute with Nexon about Dark and Darker since earlier this year when the publisher accused it of developing the game using materials stolen from a cancelled Nexon project. In March, Nexon took legal action which ultimately led to Dark and Darker’s removal from Steam. A few weeks ago Ironmace released early access of Dark and Darker via Chaf Games, but it remains unavailable on Steam.
