Mobidictum Lisbon: What to Expect

Mobidictum Lisbon is already happening this coming Tuesday, at 10:00, in Lisbon, at Hub Creativo Beato. We are partnering with Indie X, APVP, Lisbon Gaming Hub, and GameDevLisbon to bring the best possible local networking experience with many exciting things planned. Studios such as Original Games, DECA Games, and Nerd Monkeys are attending our event. We will have amazing speakers, amazing indies, and amazing events all prepared for you, and you can find all about the program in this article!

The indie game showcases will feature many upcoming titles by Portugal-based developers. Genres will include city builder, strategy, and puzzle games, as well as some very interesting and unusual mobile titles.

Among showcases, there will be such titles as Elven City Simulator, a strategy game with pixel-art graphics, where you have to fight off the darkness surrounding the world while building your own elven colony.

Other games we have include puzzles, such as Beyond the Board by the studio of the same name. Their game is built around using chess figures with their signature movesets and navigating them around new, unique, unprecedented environments.

Finally, we will also have Townseek by Whales and Games, an upcoming trading simulator with a cozy atmosphere and cute animals, as well as a thought-through system of trade.

Speaker panels will be held in the form of round tables, with multiple speakers gathering small tables of people and discussing a multitude of relevant topics. On top of that, there will be a couple more activities, including a networking session at the end. There will be a total of three tables that you can join, with new sessions at each, changing every hour, and a lunch break in the middle of the day.

The full list of sessions can be found below. Some highlights include Alfonso Ferreira with his discussion on navigating burnout in the industry, Jefferson Valadares, with his talk on how to sell your game studio; and Arseny Lebedev, with his discussion on relevant topics for mobile game growth.

There will also be an interactive session dedicated to fuckups in the gaming industry hosted by Marie Mejerwall, who will also be the host of the entire event. Marie has extensive experience in game development and Esports coverage. Having seen this industry both from a developer’s perspective and the media, we are very excited to have her come along for this event!

Many game dev events are oriented around big crowds of people, and it can truly be intimidating to meet with everyone you want to meet. However, this event will be extremely local yet feature all the best qualities of bigger events.

Batuhan Avucan, founder of Mobidictum, commented on the event saying: ‘Portugal’s ecosystem is growing rapidly. It attracts a lot of talented people from all over Europe. As Mobidictum, we wanted to connect our audience here in Lisbon and be a part of something growing. Last November was our first event here with Gaming Hub; we had very good feedback. Portugese ecosystem with our network event series, I hope you will get good connections and insights and have a good experience.’
