All the news below is from the week that started on 10 May and ended today, 17 of May. The news varies from analytics and charts to games reaching incredible milestones to new subscription services and more! First of all, at the start of the week, AppMagic revealed top free mobile games for April 2020. For both iOS and Android, Lion Studio’s Save The Girl! got the first place while Gametion Technologies’s Ludo King was the most downloaded cross platform game.

Furthermore, a hacker was able to access Roblox users’ private information such as email addresses and disable 2FA authentication. Roblox is one of the most popular multiplayer games among children and it has more than 1.5 billion hours of monthly activity, that what makes something like this a big risk. Nordeus, the team behind Top Eleven celebrated the game’s 10th anniversary and shared some details. The football management game has surpassed 220 million downloads worldwide. Also, players played 27 billion matches from the touchline with 262 billion minutes of gameplay and 75 million League trophies.

Continuing on great milestones, Playrix’s games have been downloaded more than one billion times! Based on Sensor Tower’s report, the Russian giant’s most popular game is Gardenscapes  with 324 million downloads. It’s followed by Homesapes, Township, and Fishdom. Speaking of the number billion, Fortnite Mobile revenue crossed $1 billion in two years only! That’s a huge milestone for Epic Games and another proof that Fortnite is now a part of the modern culture.

What also happened in the mobile games industry?

On Wednesday, the tech startup Multiscription announced Unleashd, the first in-game subscription service for free-to-play games. Unleashd will give mobile game publishers a novel take on free-to-play monetization without cannibalizing their existing revenue streams. The new service relies on improving free-to-play monetization rather than disrupting existing methods of monetization. That’s not everything that happened this week though in the mobile games industry. It’s not a week if there is no acquisition news, right? The high-growth mobile games company AppLovin announced that it is acquiring mobile game studio Machine Zone. Also, AppLovin will move its headquarters a mile away to the Machine Zone office in Palo Alto.

Lastly, the insights and analysis company Sensor Tower revealed the top mobile games by worldwide revenue for April 2020. PUBG Mobile generated $225.2 million and ranked first on overall revenue and App Store revenue charts. It is followed by Tencent’s other game, Honor of Kings.
